In this performance the artist explores a lost cultural identity in order to escape Brexit through cultural bodily memory, and navigates the development of the pre/post-Brexit economy.
The artist performs an Irish hornpipe on 99 pence worth of British supermarket flour. The dance is usually performed in sections by a large group, but the artist attempts the entire dance alone. The dance disperses the flour in a dramatic display and the sound from the Irish hard shoes is muted by the flour. Throughout the dance, as the flour shifts, the taps and the artists’ exhaustion become more evident.
